'Fat Man Walking' About To Complete Journey
(I've been following this guy for awhile now. Check out his website. The link is on the right.)
LEDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The self-proclaimed "Fat Man Walking" has almost reached his destination, a long way from his San Diego home.
Steve Vaught began walking to New York last year in a bid to tackle his weight problem. Vaught had ballooned up to 410 pounds and decided a cross-country walk would be the way to work off the fat.
Vaught said he's due to arrive Tuesday in Manhattan, more than 100 pounds lighter and 2,500 miles from his home.
The trek has taken its toll. Vaught said he's gone through tens of pair of shoes while suffering everything from massive blisters to stress fractures.
He said he hopes the trip not only makes him leaner but also promotes a healthy lifestyle for others.
Vaught chronicles his journey on his Web site.

Hmm, same sorta wounds that Napoleon's soldiers suffered on their retreat march out of Russia, maybe his force would have survived the Russian winter if they had an extra 300 pounds of blubber to deal with the cold...
