Review
Time to step back and review all the goings on of the last week or so.
Last night I went to an absolutely GORGEOUS party/show. The house was beautiful. The atmosphere was amazing. The entire thing was lit by candles with Jeff Pitcher, Reid Maclean, and Christian Keifer playing amazingly soothing music in the background. It was so perfect in fact, that at the end of my long work week it led to total sleepiness and I had to excuse myself before Christian even played a thing.
Today I am supposed to help build a Mayan Step Pyramid out of styrofoam and papier-mache for my daughters school project. When I woke up this morning (ok, it was really afternoon) the house was a total complete mess and when it gets like that I can't function very well. One bit at a time I am getting it cleaned up. It's irritating me though, since none of the mess is mine. I just haven't been at home at all in the last month or so for anything but sleep.
I finally gave in and have ordered a house phone. I really don't feel that I want to be so accessible that I have multiple phone numbers but at the same time I am tired of sharing a phone with the houseguest. I am tired of not being able to answer almost every single call because I won't answer if I don't recognize the caller's number. (That's what voicemail is for, no?) Everytime I need to make a phone call either my daughter or Josh is using my phone. I use my cell phone as an alarm clock and lately I have been dragging it in to bed with me to turn it off and then forgetting it and leaving it at home somewhere in my bed.
My house is...odd. I live in a house built in the 20's that was converted into a 'duplex' of sorts. From the front it looks like a normal 2 story house but if you walk to the side of the house there is another entrance (mine.) Walking in the door there are immediately stairs that lead up to my apartment. There is a door there also that leads into the downstairs portion of the house. It is deadbolted from both sides. In any event, a phone line was never installed in the upstairs portion of the house which is one reason I don't have a land line. To avoid this whole thing I've ordered service from Vonage which is cheaper than SBC or ATT or PACBELL or whoever they are this week. The phone is in the mail and if you want the number ask, because I'm not likely to call everyone to give it to them.
This reminds me...next month I will have officially lived here for one year. I have been asked about a house-warming but the truth is that my apartment is too small for that. Also, you cannot be tall in my apartment. I am only 5'4" and when I reach up I can easily touch the ceiling. I would have to schedule people two at a time for a walkthrough. I will post pictures and create a virtual tour for those that care...just as soon as it is cleaned up.
Still planning the vacation stops. So far we've got The Viper Room, Viscious, Venice Beach, Melrose, the Tar Pits, etc. There were a few more, but I've already forgot them. I really need to start a list.
Time to stop screwing around and get some things done I suppose...
